Updated advice on Coronavirus (from March
2022)
In the Benefice we are moving
towards "living with covid" and over the next few weeks all
restrictions will be dropped, in line with government
guidance.
However, if you wish to continue to wear a mask please do and
consider the type of mask you'll need to provide the protection
you're looking for. If you have been around someone who has
tested positive with covid then please consider wearing a mask to
offer protection to others, thank you.

Churchyard survey results
Thank you to everyone who took part in our wildlife survey during
‘Love Your Burial Ground Week’.
Together we identified 77 different
species in the churchyard; it is a truly wonderful
diverse place in our community for everyone and everything!
Yapton St Marys summary data sets are below;
Birds – 7 species identified, all of which were
our typical garden birds, e.g. Robin, Blackbird etc.
Insects and Animals – 16 species identified, of
which 7 were butterflies common to our wild meadow environment.
Regrettably, only a small number of bees species were spotted,
however the good news is that they were seen in quite large
numbers.
Plants and Trees – 54 species identified and by
far the largest group found by you whilst walking around our
beautiful churchyard. There were multiple instances of the same
tree species, (12 in total), recorded by you. Wild flowers were by
far the largest observation and some truly unique plants were
noted.
Following the process outlined by ‘Caring For Gods Acre’, we have
submitted our nature logs for the many different species
identified, and this will support the ‘beautiful burial grounds’
project.
